EFCC Seized 40 Houses of Former Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Senator Ekweremedu
The EFCC, the anti-corruption agency in Nigeria, has received a court order to confiscate 40 houses and buildings of Senator Ike Ekweremedu for a period of time.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja High Court granted the EFCC’s request to seize the houses of the former Deputy President of the Senate on Friday in the suit it filed seeking to seize them for investigation.
The agency accuses the senator of acquiring the property “through illegal means such as money laundering”.
The pictures of the houses published by the EFCC include those in Abuja and Enugu State, where this is the senator’s home state.
Ekweremadu is currently on trial in London on charges of attempting to dismember a young man’s body and illegally transporting it to the UK.
The senator and his wife were arrested last June in London on suspicion of killing a man named David Nwamini and removing his penis to give to their sick daughter.
