The Islamist Taliban government has strongly criticized US President Joe Biden for calling Afghanistan a “place forsaken by God” and vowing to

reconstruction of the war-torn country without any support from foreign countries
The spokesman of the Taliban chief, Zabihullah Mujahid, told a press conference on Saturday in Kabul that “those who make such statements are doing so out of anger and envy for Afghanistan.”

He went on to describe the return of peace and stability in South Asia since the Taliban took over, saying Afghans “go about their daily lives.”

During his speech on Friday in California, Biden praised the soldiers who fought in Afghanistan and called the country a “God forsaken” region. He told the story of his travels in the war zone of Afghanistan as a member of the Senate and the Vice President of the United States.

“Many of you went to Afghanistan. I was in every part of it. It’s a God-forsaken place — it’s a God-forsaken place,” Biden said.

The President of the United States expelled all American troops and NATO allies in August 2021, after 20 years of fighting the Taliban. The withdrawal boosted the confidence of the Islamic group to regain control of Afghanistan immediately.

The Cost of War at Brown University estimates the longest military intervention in U.S. history has cost Washington nearly $2 trillion and cost more than 2,400 U.S. military lives since 2001.
